Description:

As a Mechanical Designer/Mechancial Design Engineer you will design and build custom sheet metal structures for custom electrical switchgear projects and LEC products. Working closely with customer requirements, in house mechanical and electrical engineers and our production teams to create clever, cost effective power distribution solutions. The biggest part of the job is understanding the engineering behind how and where to connect the sheet metal parts. This persons job will be to take ideas or napkin sketches from cradle to crave and figure out the engineerability, feasibility, designability of each product and making sure they are structurally sound.

This is not going to be a role where you are just past part files.

There sheet metal design is going to be 90% design for bending and cutting which is then sent to a local fab shop to complete. So they will work closely with that customer to make sure product is correct.

• Collaborate with in house Electrical Engineers on the design and development of electrical sheet metal enclosures: switchgear, switchboards, control panels, etc.

• Develop top level sheet metal assemblies, parts and part prints in 3D software

• Layout and develop busbar design

• Create bill of materials for part manufacturing

• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints and technical drawings

• Work with and support LEC CAD designers to ensure part specs meet requirements.

• Access and ensure customer specific requirements are met

• Receive and complete engineering change requests

o Assist with any sheet metal or busbar design changes on products during construction

o Liaison between our Mechanical Design team and the sheet metal and busbar production teams

LOOKING FOR:

1. 3 Years of Engineering Design Experience Required, Sheet Metal Design Preferred

2. Associates Degree Preferred

3. Solidworks or Autocad Experienced HIGHLY preferred
